Proverbs 14:01

Every wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands." - Proverbs 14:1

We live in a generation that has been taught that a woman has not really accomplished anything unless she has a successful career. Young ladies are encouraged to go out and find fulfillment in the workforce. Married woman are bombarded with enticements to leave their homes everyday for the office so that they can do something that really matters. Entire industries have sprung up that provide these women with child care, pre-made meals, and maid services so that they can spend forty hours a week working for a paycheck instead of working for their own family.

Solomon said that a wise woman would build her house. This means that if a woman has Biblical wisdom her family will be her priority. This is not to say that there would never be a circumstance where a lady would need to earn income. However, building up the family is what a wife and mother ought to desire to do. Additional income may be nice, but at what cost? Is having a career worth giving your children to someone else to raise everyday? Is it worth not being there for them when they return home from school? Is it worth entrusting them to someone else, perhaps someone not that well known to you, to teach them the values you want them to have? Is it worth being exhausted from work so that when your husband comes home from his job you can not be a blessing to him? Is it worth having to choose between those you love the most and your job? I wouldn't think so.

Ladies, you need to decide whether the choices you are making as far as your time is concerned are building up or tearing down your husband and children. Are they making your home stronger or weaker? Be wise, and choose to build up your house.
