Having repented of sin, and having received the Lord Jesus Christ, the very Son of God, by faith as personal Savior, and having followed the Lord in Believers Baptism by immersion subsequent to our conversion, we gladly, solemnly, and whole heartedly enter into covenant one with another as members together of this local church.
.
We promise, by the aid of the Holy Spirit, to forsake the paths of sin, and to walk in the ways of holiness all the days of our lives. With this in view, we promise to work together for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness, and commitment; to strive together for its spiritual and numerical growth; to sustain its doctrines, ordinances, and discipline; to give regularly, proportionately, cheerfully, and sometimes sacrificially to the support of the ministry, the operating expenses of the church, the assistance of the needy, and the work of world-wide evangelism. We further promise that we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together, but will uphold the public worship of God and the preaching and teaching of the Scriptures, giving sacred priority to this over all institutions of human origin.
We commit ourselves to maintain personal and family devotions; to establish and maintain a Biblical relationship with our mates, and raising our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord; to seek through prayer and witnessing the salvation of our loved ones and friends; to live as Believers should live in the world: to be honest in our dealings with all men, to be faithful in our responsibilities, and to be examples of Biblical Christianity in our behavior; to abstain from gossip, unedifying criticism, and unscriptural anger; to abstain from alcoholic beverages, either for personal use or for business purposes; to uphold and obey the laws of our land so long as they do not violate the Law of God; and to actively and zealously work to advance the cause of our Lord and His Gospel.
We further promise to walk together, and watch over each other, in Christian, brotherly love. We will remember each other in prayer; be willing to give and receive admonition with meekness and affection; to help each other in sickness and distress; to be gracious and Christ-like in our speech; and be slow to take offense; but always ready for and working towards reconciliation. We will, in all conditions, even unto death, strive to live to the glory of Him who hath called us out of darkness into his marvelous Light.
We further promise that, should we move from this place, we will, as soon as possible, seek out another church of like faith and doctrine to which we will transfer our membership and continue in the teachings of God’s Word and the spirit of this covenant.
