Dear Pastor,

A famous missionary once said, "The future is as bright as the promises of God". One great promise that has gripped my attention recently is found in Psalm 138:7-8 and reads,

"Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands."

More and more I am realizing the need for revival : in my heart, in our churches, in our mission work, in our nation. Nothing else will really allow us to be what we should be for God or accomplish His work. Will you join me and others in seeking God for His mercy in the midst of trouble?

We have seen the Lord continue to provide for us as we travel. Our last extended trip started and ended with gracious gifts of a tank full of gas. We also had one given in the middle of the trip to keep us going. We found wonderful fellowship and open hearts towards Gods word in several churches. The Lord provided with an unscheduled meeting where I preached and showed our presentation. We enjoyed several reunions with dear friends as well. Another highlight was hearing some great preaching at family week at the Bill Rice Ranch.

A few weeks ago I had the privilege of sharing the gospel with a Chinese man in the town where we are living when we are not on the road. He was attending the University and had never heard the truths of Gods word. He was fairly eager to learn what the Bible said and was somewhat surprised that it actually answered the questions that he had. After three sessions of about two hours each, he prayed and asked God to save him through Jesus Christ. It was a great reminder to me that if God will save a secular humanist from China, that He will save them in England as well.

A recent conversation with a friend in England revealed that costs are increasing in their country along with ours. These things are a continuing test to see if we will trust the Lord or look to man. We pray that the difficulties will cause the British people to see that their only hope for time and eternity is to look to the Creator and His Son Jesus Christ.

Please join us in asking the Lord

  • For revival in the US and the UK
  • For British men, women, and children to come to Christ
  • For meetings in 2009
  • For our family to be a blessing to the churches where we have meetings
  • For our spiritual preparation for the work in Lincoln, England

Serving for Christ's Sake and the Gospel's,

Tom Rooney
