9/03/2008 Prayer Letter Update
Dear Praying Friends,
It is good to be back on the road again! We did not schedule any meetings in June due to the arrival of our little Chloe. We wanted Lauren to be able to recover from childbirth. We also knew that Miriam and Abigail would need some time to become accustomed to having another sister in the family. Since we have resumed our travels, we have visited a number of excellent churches. All of our meetings in the past several months have been in Michigan. This has been a blessing to our family, since it allows us to spend a few days at home each week.
I have been spending several days each week calling pastors to schedule meetings for the first part of 2009. Please pray that the Lord will let us fill our schedule quickly. Because of the government regulations concerning visas and because of our current support level, we are tentatively planning to depart for Papua New Guinea in April or May of 2009. Please pray with us that we will have the remainder of our support by the beginning of next year.
A missionary friend in Papua New Guinea recently advised us to slightly increase our budget because of the rising costs in the country. Even though we needed to raise our budget, our current support level is still at 75%, due to two new supporters.
Our God is an amazing God Who truly answers the prayers of His children! This past month we saw Him work in a great way. Lauren had been feeling completely exhausted since the birth of Chloe in June. We expected this for a few weeks, but when it continued for two months, we were wondering what was wrong. After praying about what the Lord would have us do, we took her to the doctor, who did blood tests. The tests, however, showed nothing wrong. In an amazing series of events, the Lord brought Lauren in contact with someone who suggested the problem might be a lack of vitamin B12. After talking to her doctor, Lauren received a shot of B12 and began taking some other vitamin supplements as well. Within 24 hours we noticed a drastic difference! Lauren is feeling much better now and can keep up with much of the work around the house.
Praises
- The Lord healed Laurens problem of exhaustion.
- The Lord recently gave us two more supporters.
- The Lord has given us 75% of our support, in spite of increased costs.
Prayer
- Pray for a full schedule of meetings for the first part of 2009.
- Continue to pray for our future coworkers, the Crowes. They still have not received their visas.
- Pray that all our support will be promised by the spring of 2009.
In Christ,
Ben Childs
